Like our live recordings, studio recordings can take place pretty much anywhere

...be it a studio, a function room or even a house. The main difference is that studio recordings tend to record one instrument at a time to allow much more focus on each part.

An advantage of this type of recording is that space to setup is not as important. However, you may wish to mix parts of the live and studio recording methods - for example record your band 'live' but then add vocals seperately; the choice is yours.

Gecko and yours truly chat about some of the memories from recording the song Teardrop.

This song was recorded in a flat above a hairdressing salon...

Here is the completed version of the song with studio footage of the actual takes which appear on the finished recording...

This isn't miming folks, they really are performing what you're listening to, including a fabulous vocal by Chris Page who just stood in the control room with the rest of us and sang down a plain old Sennheiser dynamic mic - and did it in one take just like they used to!

We had a great time recently recording folk group Mad Fox in Yorkshire. This track was recorded totally live in a single take although Bob did sing an overdubbed vocal on the version shown here.

Check out their website at www.MadFox.co.uk...thanks to Paul Williams for this cool little video!
